On Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1862, the
New York Daily Herald published this mind-numbing, four-column list of Union casualties from the Battle of Fredericksburg, fought the previous week. Imagine the anxiety of those who searched this massive list for a loved one or friend.
Hello I am trying to clear up a family history iss. My great great grandfather Henry W.?Shields was a Civil War. He died in 1919. It seems his story is confused with anther Henry Shields from New York behold may have been killed or lost in action at Fredericksburg. Is there a digital list of the Fredericksburg casualties that I can search?
