I was always moved by a story, I included in my article in the Confederate Veteran magazine back in the 80's or 90's....it was a proper ending to my article , and I am trying to quote from memory ...."in the winter, when the trees were bare, the tall marble shaft on Cleburne's grave was visible from the Mississippi River. When men who served with Cleburne traveled the river, they stood at attention."Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05101431650662711276noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31912334.post-249573326013358202019-12-01T22:21:41.188-05:002019-12-01T22:21:41.188-05:00Appropriate reminder of his journey home to Helena...Appropriate reminder of his journey home to Helena. Thank you John. I am the great, great, great nephew of Dan Govan, and actually attended Battle Ground Academy, the site where Cleburne fell. I've visited St. John's Episcopal Church, as well, and always remember this tragic end to the war on this anniversary of the Battle of Franklin. Thank you for sharing this reminder of his journey home.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13524956135258320757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31912334.post-28310273504553722712019-11-30T23:54:27.754-05:002019-11-30T23:54:27.754-05:00Thank you.great story.
