We lived in Dallas for 20-plus years, and I pretty much know this scene as well as our own backyard. This is Dealey Plaza, of course, where President Kennedy was assassinated Nov. 22, 1963. Here are four cellphone photos I took on my visit there last week. The shot at the top was taken from the famous Triple Underpass. Kennedy's limo raced under the underpass en route to Parkland Hospital about five miles away. That's where JFK was pronounced dead about 30 minutes after he was shot.
The second picture from the top is a shot of the former Texas School Book Depository, which now houses county government offices. There's a plaque on the building noting its history. Note the words allegedly in reference to Lee Harvey Oswald. That's no doubt the work of a conspiracy supporter.
And speaking of conspiracy, the shot below is taken from behind the picket fence on the famous grassy knoll. I used to be a big believer that a shot came from back there. No longer. I believe Oswald had help, but there wasn't a shooter behind this fence. Difficult to believe someone would choose this exposed spot.
