Meet Private Luther Reed

Stumbled upon another old graveyard today in Connecticut, this one next to a church in Avon. Here's the grave of Civil War soldier Luther Reed, who enlisted March 21, 1864, and served as a private with the 10th Connecticut through Appomattox. There's a good bet Reed, from Simsbury, Conn., was there when Robert E. Lee surrendered in April 1865. I imagine it was quite an adventure for Reed, who was 16 or 17 at the time.

It's cold today (temp. in 20s) here in Connecticut. Roaring Brook, just down the street from our new home, is frozen. How frozen is anyone's guess. We don't plan on testing that.

Bling!

We did a ton of stories on Super Bowl rings recently. The majority of Super Bowl rings are made by Jostens in Denton, Texas, where the management there let me try a few on for size. I always wanted to wear five Super Bowl rings. It felt like wearing a five-pound weight on my hand.

Super Bowl party...

...at the former Versace Mansion on South Beach was a treat. Party was hosted by Shaq and included Matt Leinart, John Elway, Jerry Jones, Eli Manning, Reggie Miller and a bunch of other stars of sports and entertainment. Here's a shot of the outdoor pool there.
Oh, and here's a shot from a party of another sort: Super Bowl Media Day. That's comedian Mo Rocca doing the interview thing with a Colt. And what's Media Day without "American Idol" rejects? There they are way down there.

Super Bowl in Miami

Miami is a great place for a Super Bowl. South Beach. Parties. Trendy stores. Great restaurants. Oh, yeah. They played a game there, too. That's me above, before the game. And here's two views of the halftime show.
